The Unknown World of Quadriceps Injuries:

Utilising first principles to understand and find solutions

3rd March 2021

7–9pm GMT

Mr Michael Giakoumis

Little is known about quadriceps injuries. They occur less frequently than their counterparts of Hamstrings and Calves. However, they also have a high recurrence rate, which would suggest we are unclear over the pathological process and the best ways to rehabilitate this injury.

A lack of certainty and knowledge can lead to unclear processes. The use of first principles can be utilised to breakdown the problem into building blocks to provide a clear process, that can then provide insight, clarity and understanding.

Specifically Michael will explore:

  • A clear process to apply scientific principles to Quadriceps injuries in the absence of evidence

  • The epidemiology and how it relates to the injury mechanism

  • How morphology, and functional biomechanics relate to the injury profile and provide principles to aid the goals of rehabilitation.

  • Utilising a framework approach to the application of these 1st principles to the rehabilitation process.

  • A complete journey of how to apply the above to a Rectus Femoris injury from diagnosis to Return to Performance.

  • A pathway of how to take the lessons learnt, and apply them to any muscle injury

This interactive webinar will take 60-90mins with time for Q&A after.
